Cville has a WebCam
And there's a Webcam on the UVA Lawn looking out on the Rotunda
It still amazes me the new things I keep finding in Cville.

I've been bugging Dawn to send me some pics of the kitty I keep hearing about.
Well I got the pics she sent me today and now I'm in love! No wonder they want to keep the sweet thing.
Sorry for the blurry pics, she took them with her camera phone.
Getting ready for a road trip

Road trip
By the time we were both up and about and ready to go out it was way to late to head up to NVA to visit family which is a 2hr plus drive. I was a lil dissapointed I do miss everyone. But it was beautiful out so we decided on a jaunt to Crozet on the bike.
Which turned into a day trip to Wintergreen resort...Day trips are norm for us, most of our Sunday's are day trips. But a day trip on a Motorcycle....that's another ball of wax all together...
Before Steve mentioned Wintergreen I had never heard of it, I assumed it was a lil tiny town like Crozet; Wrong. It turned out to be a Ski resort, my very first Ski Resort too boot...
On to the show....
View from the Ski Lodge itself

Can you imagine living in these and have such a view!

Backside of the Ski Lodge

Yup, that's a Skate park

And look a Golf course, and oh my it is GORGEOUS!

These Condos look out overthe Golf course

This is the Golf Clubhouse

And this is why my ears were popping like I had popcorn in them!

This is an overlook on the way up to the Golfcourse

This is the Ski lodge

It really was a beautiful day. But I made it clear to Steve, next time in a Car. I have a serious height phobia. The road up to the Resort is at least 3 miles of twisting, turning, and big dropoffs. Going down was worse then going up. I was freaking out so bad, it was very stressfull riding on the back of that bike going down a steep grade and around big curves with lots of cars close behind you. It took all I had to not have a complete panic attack onSteve while riding that bike :O)
We made it back around 8pm and both of us were tired, sore, and numb. It was a long day...
But a very beautiful day and worth it!!

Flash from the past
This station has been in town for FOREVER cause they have pumps that I haven't seen in probably 20yrs... I didn't realize anyone still used these bad boys. I think I remember these back in WV before my kids were born LOL
I actually had to stop and study the pump for a few seconds to figure out how to operate it...it's the kind that you have pump the side handle to get it to reset to $0.00 The dials reminded me of the older car odomoters with the flipping numbers...
Thanks goodness there wasn't anyone waiting behind me, because I had to get a pic before pulling away

If you ever care to check out the ancient pumps, this lovely little station is on Rt29south right before you pass the mall :o)

Hey Dawn
On the left is Dawn(isn't she beautiful!), middle is her long time bf Sean(this is his graduation day) and on right is me(super short mom!) :O)

And I JUST LOVE this pic...sorry it's a little grainy, it's a scan of pic

In the Cville news...Train Whistles to be Silenced I'm sure this is very frustrating for those that really do live right next to the tracks...
But I've grown fond of hearing the trains and the whistles as the go thru...Must be the NVA girl in me missing the city sounds
I wonder if I'm in the minority about this...

Went a Walking
My original plan was to attend the Albemarle County fair since today was the last day. I wanted my first stop of the day to be a little coffee shop Timoney who also lives in Cville, pointed out to me as Stitch nBitch spot everyweek(I'm looking forward to this)
It's called the C'ville Coffee (click on pics for a larger view)
we had seen it before but hadn't visited it. It look very different on the inside. Books, Coffee and snackbar which had lots of yummies! And thru to the back a little cafe with seating. Cozy and inexpensive, this is now another fav spot for me.
As I stood outside sipping my Latte I noticed right across the street a little anitque shop. Circa , next thing you know I'm walking across the street :O)

I have no idea how long I was inside, I got lost in all the lil rooms and nooks inside this great shop. And oh boy what a sentimental trip it turned into for me. I kept seeing all kinds of stuff and toys that reminded me of my childhood and my grandmother. I saw several adorable tea pots and tea cups I would've loved to take home, but I was good, I kept it to a visual tour only :O)
Then I drove down McIntire Road and had to stop and look around. Between the shops and the Baseball field I saw some great scupltures. They are all over Cville by Artinplace.org

These are just two of them.

One of my goals is to see all of these scupltures in Cville.
And I found a very good example of why the power goes out all the time here, I think this is from the storm we had yesterday.

These two fallen trees where right next to each other.
Next I went inCville and actually found the Downtown Mall. I was so pleased with myself, I didn't get lost at all! Ha
I parked one street out from the mall just so I could leave easily. But that was good, I found this awesome Glass Building.

I think this building is great, it's so visually stimulating. Can you imagine working in this all day? All that beautiful light pouring in. And it right next to the train tracks, a glass building! I think that is so awesome :O)
I'm a happy camper walking the mall and next thing I know Steve is home and calling me. I never did find the county fair, but what a great day, and I have the sore legs to prove it :O)
And now, Clint Eastwoods "PaleRider" is on...what a great movie!

Went to NVA today

I also got a couple of her with her brand new Echo

And when I got back down to the Cville area this is what I came too, so the hopes of going to the county fair are dead and buried :O)

Sorry about the wiper, I didn't think it would be wise to play with the camera too much or try to do it when I wasn't at a stop light LOL
Coming up rt29 was interesting, lots of people driving 20mph or doing 60mph, a bunch of traffic lights out and lots of accidents... and lots of deep standing pools of water, glad I have my wonderful Escape, no problems for me :O)
Well, the power is still on,YEAH! but the tv cable is out! Gotta love it! :O)

Went Exploring and Critters.....
And just now typing this, a very creepy spider came trailing down it's webline to almost land on my laptop in front of me! ICK ! Charlottesville is one bug infested place, this is one of the things Steve and I agree on, BUGS everywhere here :O)
Ok, I'm done whining as Steve would say I'm doing. Let me show the pics I took
This is the view of the river from the top of the hill, the aprtments are behind me

View from the bottom of the hill looking up at the apartments

I think the lil fuzzy spot is a bug! ick

This is the trail leading down to the river

And look at these pretties, they were all over the place. I'm sure they are probably weeds, but aren't they pretty

I think my next excursion will invlove some bug repellent :O)
