A Balloon Afternoon

I pulled out of the parking lot to leave work and I was presented with two beautiful Hot Air Balloons right in front of me. I was glad I had me camera with me.

Then as I drove out I realized there was actually a trio of balloons together

I have to say, even with my height phobia; everytime I see these balloons I get excited, especially when they are down low close to me. I almost feel a part of their ride. It feels so intimate watching them float by. As I watched this trio, it was almsot as if they were playing with each other; getting close, moving apart, descending quickly and back up quickly next the other balloons. It's amazing how quickly they move for something that only requires hot air to move. This trio easily moved what may have been a mile in a matter of minutes.

I never tire of watching them...it was a great way to end my work day.

Just a hint of Color...

One of the things I've been looking forward to in Cville is the fall colors; with nothing but trees surrounding us I was excited. But I was beginning to think the lack of rain would give us bland brown foliage....

But I've noticed a few trees showing us that they still got something to show off...

More hot air action

Out running around Sunday afternoon on Pantops andnI looked out over the valley and saw 4 hot air balloons. Almost sunset, mid 60's, and over the valley; I'm sure they were have a wonderful day

This trio of balloons was on the left side of the valley. The third ballon was decending directly below the balloon on the right

This balloon was off to the right side of the valley

When I ventured over to Barracks RoadI spotted a new piece of Art in Place that has replaced the scuplture business_as_usual

but I'm not sure I get the meaning of this piece... I'll need to keep checking the site to see what it's called to give me an idea

Sunset...

This was the view from Pantops this evening after a damp rainy day and the clouds were trying to move out....

I noticed I wasn't the only person that stopped to admire and take some pictures of it....

Thriving lil buggers

The apartment complex power washed the inside hallway siding today. You couldn't miss the clean, bleachy smell as you entered the walkways and everything was still wet...

As clean as it smelled and looked; I tell ya, it DID NOT phase the Bugs one freakin' bit. As I unlocked the door I immeditately spotted several spiders... next to the door molding

And then this guy on the metal edge of the stairs

And this guy staring down at me from the door jamm

All of these just satnding in front of the door; I'm sure I could've found many more but a guy came slowly up the stairs staring at me oddly as I'm having a photoshoot with bugs, time to stop and act normal I think LOL

You think the Bug Exterminators around here have to use the Super Heavy Duty Industrial stuff on these guys??

Sherlock, I think somethings afoot...

These lil guys showed up a couple of days ago on the edge of the apartment complex.... and by the constant construction sounds we heard all weekend; they've been hard working lil bees.

Linked to the complex's New Management company take over?? I'm now on a mission to find out what's up

They grow so fast

Even though Sabrina has graduated from HS she didn't miss the chance to be her best buddy Moe's date to his Homecoming...I had to go see her off to the party

Michie Tavern & Monticello

Today Steve's family came down for a visit to see Monticello. And it seem appropiate we eat lunch at Michietavern less than 1mile from Monticello.

Apparently Michie Tavern is a very popular place to eat. This is the line waiting to eat at Michie Tavern right about noon on Sunday; when we came out from lunch, the line was even longer

Check out the Menu; and they serve it buffet style on tin plates and cups.

Then we headed for Monticello. It was my very first trip to Monticello; I had no idea what to expect. Even though it was a damp, drizzly wet day it was still fabulous. Here we are waiting for the shuttlebus to take us up to the house.

As we waited for our turn to take the hosue tour we visited Mulberry Row; it runs along the very large, beautiful Garden

This is the beautiful garden

Along Mulberry Row they had a "Plantation Community" demonstrating the skills and trades at Monticello.

This is the Joiner/woodworker

Then Jefferson's Gravesite. The most recent gravestone we saw was 2004 for an officer in JAG.

This is Jefferson's grave

I had my camera ready to get some great pics inside the house during the tour; but they enforced a "no picture taking" rule inside and we witnessed a guy being escorted out because he tried to take pictures inside the house.

I really recomend visiting Monticello.org and taking the virtual tour; that is exactly what we saw inside the house.

Getting ready to take the tour inside the house

Walking into the greenhouse

This is the fishpond. They used this to keep live fish until they were ready to eat them. And it had live fish in it too.

The Kitchen

The Allweather passageway that leads from the kitchen area up inside the house. Further up the passage is a cellar, wine cellar, "ware room" for food staples, beer cellar and a storage cellar.

Inside the front entrance of the house there is a clock that tracks the days of the week long the wall, Saturday wouldn't fit on the wall, so they cut a hole in the floor and it's in the basement :O)

It was very interesting to learn all the wonderful things Thomas Jefferson did in his life; there were so many things that I didn't knwo about him.

A great day! Thank you Vicki for suggesting it! :O)
