Geese

I've been enjoying being on the river the past couple of weeks. Geese have been spending the night on our section of the river. Every night driving to the house I can see whole flocks fly in to land on the river. I've made several attempts to get up close and take pics but they'll have none of that... This morning I got to watch them on the river before they left for the day. If you saw a brunnette in her pj's and socks walking the tree line with camera in hand that was yours truly :O)

I really loved getting to see the young geese with the moms, there were so many I was surprised.

Watching them take off and land following the curve of the river is really beautiful...now if I could just master the fast action of them flying with my camera :O)

Wahoo!

We went to our first College Basketball Game last night, the UVA vs Miami game.

I had no idea what to expect. It turned out to be really cool.

It was a packed house
The band and a sea of Orange team spirit that never, sat down. It was awesome watching these kids, they would start chanting and jumping up and down non stop...

Professional team fans have nothing on UVA kids. This crow loves their team, they wanted to win, they were excited and loud about it!

These guys went all out. As long as it was Orange, they wore it. An Orange Astronaut suit, Orange Hot dog, Orange Pumkin, Orange Indian...

You could literally feel the energy from everyone's excitement, we loved it! And they kicked butt!

Pit Stop

A little exploring today with a pit stop at McD's on Rt 15 Zion Crossroads area. I was parked next to a little tree which it turns out was popular with LOTS of birds.

It actually turned out to be pretty cool sitting there sipping my soda watching all these little birds twitter about, zoom away as cars went thru and rush back...It was quite relaxing and was a highlight of my day...

And as I sat there watching the birds, General Lee pulled thru.. This was one bad ass car and I loved it. It had all kinds of details I couldn't capture...This car looks right at home in Virginia.

Traffic Views

I did a lot of running around today, nothing exciting at all; except the scenery.

This morning, sitting across from the cemetery at the Hollymead Center. I just liked the way the sun was shining thru the trees.

View from Pantops behind the Starbucks & Giant

Sitting at the stoplight at the bottom of pantops I don't know about you all, but I'm ready for the weekend so I can get out and enjoy the sun before it disappears on me...

Blustery Day

Today in Cville made think of Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day. The winds were powerful. Despite the winds, on and off rain and snow I decided to venture out. Several times during the day I had a hard time keeping me feet trying to take pics because the wind was so strong.

I went to Gordonsville to explore. I found out a Saturday in historic Gordonsville is a busy place. I got a few pics in when I realized one of the local police kept giving me drive by's... Apparently a petite brunnette taking pics of buildings and train tracks is suspicious activity.

So between the officer, the heavy traffic, and lack of parking spaces I decided to call it a day in Gordonsville. So I went to visit our soon to be neighboorhood.

I discovered we're going to get to do some beaver watching, seriouosly... This is not even a half of a mile from the house. No beavers spotted today but still, I'm so excited; I've always wanted to see beavers in nature...

Even going to the grocery store was cool....

This was the view from Pantops today. I wasn't the only one taking pics either. I was jealous of the gal with the 35mm with the 6"lens :O)

Buena Vista Sunset

I've always liked the look of this Farm on Rt20.

And at the same time in the opposite direction, a pretty full moon

Proffit

I drove down Proffit Road today with my camera, I had to get some more of my favorite things...

I love this small silo, it sits on the edge of a river.

I have two things I really love on Proffit Road...One of them is the wooden one lane bridge that covers the railroad tracks... I think what I really love about this bridge is the wooden slates you drive on. When you drive over them you can hear them move and thud. Sometimes I open the window just so I can hear the thudding of the wood as I drive over it. If you click on the pic for a biggie view you can see the wood

My other favorite thing is this beautiful Red Barn. It's maybe 500 yards from the wooden one lane bridge. As I took pictures of the barn I could hear the thudding of the bridge from the constant car traffic... I could have stayed there with the red barn for quite a while just to listen to the thudding sound

Proffit Road is off of Rt29 at the 29/Airport Road intersection and goes down to Rt20.

Rocky beginnings...Sweet Endings

I woke up this morning to look out the window to not be able to see anything at all...Cville was a super thick pea soup...very interesting drive to work..

You've seen this tree before, probably more than once but I'm having a serious love affair with this tree. It's so beautiful full of leaves or totally naked showing off it's gorgeous textured bark. I never tire of looking at it.

View from Pantops behind Starbucks...

As I sat on rt250 on the bridge over the Rivanna River, several flocks of geese were flying in circles getting ready to land on the river.

Rt29 North

But the day ending so beautifully...I decided to take Profit road home. I love driving this road, despite the winding curves. It's such a visual stretch...Today since it was still light out I stopped at Baker Butler school to get some pics.

I lied, more sunset....isn't it incredible!!

Once more!!

Check out this schools sculpture

This cow makes me smile, it must be great to see this cow every morning when you get to school

As I walked up to the door...I love the deep blue with this tree

A pretty good day

Staring game

I sipped my Latte and stared, he groomed and stared...we both stared...

As soon as the shutter went off, the game was over for...

Good morning Cville, I hope it's a beautiful day for you.
