Blue, Black and Red

Never really paid them much attention until they stood out all pretty against the white snow...

Watching

For ten minutes this morning these two deer sat inside the treeline behind the house watching Walker cruise the backyard oblivious to the deer...

By the time Walker woke up to give chase they were nothing but white tail spots deep in the woods.

Project Linus

Tomorrow I'll be joining many others in the Cville chapter of Project Linus
Annual Make a Blanket Day. Project Linus is one of the charity groups I've supported for a while. Over the years I've made blankets at home and sent them off but I've never joined others in the effort. I'm looking forward to joining others to make blankets.

Thank you Annie Scholz from NBC 29 News for airing the news spot on the local chapter

Watch your step donkey! You are carrying a camera! geesh...

Butternut Squash Soup

One of our favorite places to eat in Charlottesville is Pizza Bella at Forest Lakes; recently they've had Butternut Squash Soup and Butternut Squash Ravioli on the menu. Both simply yummy. The quest to have that wonderful soup at home was on. Yesterday during our lovely first wintry mix of the season I worked on my second batch {we won't mention the first batch ok}

Using this recipe from Sunset Food as my starting point and only two changes; substituting 2 granny smith apples for the apple juice and adding a little half and half cream during blending. Delicious and hot on a wet and cold day. Bowls licked clean. I had success. Now the quest for the ravioli begins....

Now this is winter...

We finally got our first "wintery mix" of the season yesterday. It was beautiful and definitely fun for Walker who didn't know what to do in his first snow.

This morning is another story all together; that pretty snow, freezing rain and sleet has turned into hard, crusty ice.
Walker had a serious but cute dilemma; find a suitable grassy spot or mad, crazy gobble up all the FREE ice on the ground he didn't have to beg me for...

But after our third trip outside in 20 minutes in the freezing cold so he could gobble ice, I admit; all the cuteness was gone for me...

PhotoFriday ~ Fast

This weeks theme for PhotoFriday is "Fast"

Excess water runoff from the water treatment plant. The water was flowing so fast I couldn't capture what I planned for the shot...

Knots

Not the most glamorous of subject matter, but the trees in this area totally fascinate me with all of their natural funkiness; I could do weeks of nothing but interesting aspects of trees.

Veins

Silly rabbit, the great outdoors are for puppies...

1 second later I'm being bulldozed and I'm a whirling dervish holding on tight to my camera as he just keeps blowing right by me...

I don't think anyone can say our puppy isn't an extremely happy one...

PhotoFriday ~ Peaceful

The theme this week for PhotoFriday is "Peaceful" I usually don't post a PhotoFriday unless I can actually do it on Friday but I saw this feather and had to.
