SPC #61 Black and White ~ My Boy

The Self Portrait Challenge theme for February is Black & White.

As soon as this month's theme was announced I knew I wanted one week to be of Myself and Walker, my sweet boy. But I realized many month's ago that Walker was not one to take photo sessions seriously. My only succesful photo's of him are from a distance where his attention isn't on the camera. But I wanted to try anyway.

As soon as I sat next to him it was immediately cuddle time and there wasn't a single second of stillness on his part.
And several, almost successful attempts to lick the camera with that lil flashing red light....

Oh well, he's still my sweet boy and I wouldn't have him any other way.

Oh Dale....

Look what I did...all by my lonesome!

I figured out how to use a ratchet screwdriver and my only assistance from harry homeowner was a demonstration of how to use the power drill. I even drilled my first holes! Twelve of them, all perfect!

WooHoo! Ok, I'm ready for my Harriet Homeowner tiara. I told harry homeowner I need my own power drill; smaller and pink!

Weird

This is just one weird winter. Last week temps into the 60's. Today snow, sleet and barely above freezing. Just so you know Mother Nature, I'm ready to negotiate....

Photo Friday ~ Textured

The theme for PhotoFriday this week is Textured

Chicken say hello to the world. World say hello to Chicken; one of Walker's "precious" toys, who gets lots of Walker's attention. Chicken used to be covered in a lovely textured fuzz...

Guess What # 3 Revealed

The cellophane wrapper to the wonderful flowers I was gifted last week at work. A bit sneaky using that I admit but I loved the wrapper as much as the flowers. Yeah I'm a tard...

SPC # 60 Black and White ~ Basking in the Glow

The Self Portrait Challenge theme for February is Black & White.

I had intentions of staging a glamorous B&W this week but when I stepped outside today at work, I was in shock and inspired.

I found myself basking in the glow of glorious sunshine that had been hidden for weeks behind clouds and ice. It was pure heaven. Time: 3:15pm Temperature:51 degrees

All creatures great and small

20 Minutes

Combine a tennis court and an Australian Shepherd and 20minutes later it's all over...

After weeks of frozen muck...

We're both fighting serious cabin fever, making each other crazy and dying for some color and warmth... and it looks like this could be the week...calling 50 degrees this week! woohoo! No more ice skating in the yard!

Not Big Enough

Trust me, it's not even half big enough...

Leave him alone for a couple of hours and you'll be wondering where the hell it went.

Photo Friday ~ Self Portrait 2007

The theme for PhotoFriday this week is Self Portrait 2007 . When I first read the theme, I thought "cool, this is easy"

Then I actualy started taking pics...I won't tell you how many, except to say that I hate every one of them. This one was probably the best of the lot.

Until this one...yeah, it's Friday; this is more like it....
Thank God it's Friday!

Dare I repeat it?

I just saw a weather forecast calling for temps in the high 40's and low 50's by next Wednesday.

After two days of ice skating in the yard wearing boots just to walk the puppy; I'm not sure I can hide my excitement at the mere possibility...

SPC #59 ~Black and White ~ Hidden

The Self Portrait Challenge theme for February is Black & White

I've always loved black and white photos of men and women that have a hidden glamour or sensuality without actual any images of sexuality in the photo. This week is my attempt at that hidden sensuality.

Guess What 2 ~ Revealed Early

I can see I need to get even more creative with future "guess what" photo's; Krista got it imediately. A playground slide at the Gordosnville Elementary...

Here we go again...

But I suspect this time won't be as much fun with up to 1" of ice the forecasters are calling for... let the fun begin.

Guess What ~ What is it? And My Gratitude

Recently Steve left a comment on this post, which promted this post, which promted a suggestion from Dale, Steve's brother. His suggestion? "I think once a week (or every now and then) you need to post a "MysteryPicture" and solicit guesses." So I posted this to test the waters.

Thus, a weekly photo theme was born for me. "Guess What" A first for me. So...everyweek (or as oftens I can find inspiration) I'll be posting a "Guess What" on Mondays. And the I'll post a "Guess What ~ Revealed" on Thursdays. It will be a "perspective" or close-up of a daily object.

Hopefully this will be a success. If not, I hope it's at least a little entertaining to all...

And now onto the mushy, grateful part. I orginally started this blog on a whim after stumbling stumbling across a Charlottesville blog. I thought it would be nice to have a way to let our family and friends back in Northern VA see everything we saw and how beautiful Central VA was.

I had no idea what would be become of this blog or if it would even have a long life since our housing/job situation wasn't set in stone. I didn't really expect anyone to see it or pay attention. I had nice digital camera that Steve gave me and we loved to explore the wide open. That was pretty much it. At the time I didn't even expect our families to read that often. But I found out that they did and they visited the blog faithfully almost everyday. And they constantly pushed me to keep going.

Somewhere along the way the blog and I evolved into a different animal. I began to see everything differently. Bits and pieces. Colors and angles.Everything I see, I see as an image, as if I was looking thru a camera lens. Everything is beautiful to me. Everyday I look forward to sharing another photograph for you.

And so; I want to tell all of my family that I'm gratful for their support and encouragement. You and this blog have changed everything for me. And I love you dearly for it.

Frozen

For the last two days our lake has been almost a complete sheet of ice...
The poor geese and ducks have been forced into the only spot that hasn't been taken over by the ice.

The One Meeeeeeeelllion Dollar question

The Donkey spoke....
"So what are they? Berries, pretty Bowling Balls in the snow, Three alien space craft, Golf Balls (colored so you don't loose them), discarded Clown noses?"

Ok Donkey.... the answer to the One Meeeeellion Dollar question....

Tee Markers...

I'll take that One Meeeeeeeellion Dollars in 20's and 100's please; personal checks not accepted... especially since donkey walks by "them" everyday...

Rumor has it that we may get that white stuff tonight...

But even with the temperature currently at 9 degress in Gordonsville with a -3 windchill, I'm not holding my breath. This is one freaky winter...
