Cville Vegetarian Festival & Cafe Lajoi

I went to the Cville Vegetarian Festival today. Everyone else had the same idea too. The Downtown Mall was a complete sea of people, all out enjoying the day and the festival.

I wasn't sure what to expect from a Vegetarian Festival. I browsed the vendors and watched the vast diversity of the crowd of people. There was great live music by local singers. Judging by some of conversations I overheard, Cville has a very large population of vegan, vegetarian and semi vegetarian residents. The vendors were great and the food was really good. And everywhere you turned there were dogs of all varieties with their owners. The animals available for adoption were plentiful, and wonderful. I bought some goodies for puppy and myself too. It was fun.
Recently Cafe Lajoi opened near were I work. I stopped by for lunch on Friday. I had the Veggie Delight sandwich. It was probably the freshest sandwich I've ever eaten, with bread that tasted like it had just come out of the oven and very fresh veggies. I wolfed down every crumb and then crushed the oatmeal raisin cookie that had just been baked that morning...The owners waited on me; they are most delightful people. I will most definitely be becoming a regular at Cafe Lajoi.

fire hydrant

A lifetime ago, in my childhood I remember mischievous and brightly painted fire hydrants. I truly miss them and I love it when we cross paths again.

lunch

I watched as the bird beat the fish against the tree for ten minutes. That's one very determined, hungry bird.

Myrtle Beach State Park

We listened to a lecture on sea turtles, and enjoyed the beauty of the park. We found out we were just over one week early from getting to see the curent sea turtle eggs nest hatch out. bummer, that would have been incredible to see.

Dunes and Sea Oats; did you know it's against the law to damage the dunes or pick the sea oats?

Six Flags fun

We're back from S.C. and getting back into the daily stuff. The day before we left for South Carolina the kids and I went to Six Flags; it was an absolutely beautiful day and we all had a blast.

At some point during the day, Sean won Nemo for Dawn; it became a joke between us as to whose turn it was to babysit poor Nemo. But Nemo did a great job of keeping the baby belly from getting to hot.

Dawn was a real trooper as we followed the others around the park from ride to ride since she couldn't ride. We kept each other company and seriously amused each other while waiting for the others to finish the park rides.

I just love theme parks and all the tacky fun stuff that goes with them that takes you back to your childhood. And you know a day at a theme park isn't complete without a funnel cake! A dang perfect on at that!

UVA vs. Duke

We were invited to attend the UVA vs. Duke game today; it was Steve's first UVA football game and my first ever college football game. We were in a Suite on the fourth tier....one word...AWESOME!

Kickoff!

And I couldn't believe when I was told that a certain sports celebrity had the suite next to the one we were in...That is Mrs. Diane Long. And oh boy she's a serious footbal mom, very vocal; it was cool. I was dying to ask her were she bought those awesome clogs!

The only drawback of not being out in the bleachers was missing out on all of the "more colorful" fans

It was a fun gameday experience and I would ceratinly do it again! Go UVA!
